Realtor.com’s Jonathan Smoke explains the impeding increase in the federal funds rate by the Federal Reserve, but says that it most likely won’t impact mortgage rates. The change will affect short-term rates, but mortgages are influenced by long-term bond rates and the 10-year Treasury bond, which hit it’s lowest yield for the year on January 30 at 1.68%.
